Reflection
on the Design Thinking Cycle and UN Global Goals
1. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a critical guide for modern-day innovators, inventors, and designers. These goals provide a clear roadmap for sustainable development, directing efforts towards the creation of solutions to address pressing global concerns. By aligning their work with the SDGs, these individuals can contribute to creating a better and more sustainable world.
3. Feedback is a crucial process in any profession because it provides valuable insights into furthering one’s knowledge and developing a solution's effectiveness. Feedback helps identify areas for improvement and ensures we put our best foot forward.
4. Kinder children are excellent sources for gaining creative feedback due to their fresh perspectives, creativity, and unique way of looking at the world around them. Their curiosity and imagination often lead to innovative ideas and unexpected insights that most adults may not consider. Additionally, involving children in the feedback process can inspire creative solutions that are inclusive, engaging, and broad.
6. Over the course of this semester, I have gained an important understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Although it was challenging, I have learned and utilized numerous technological tools for this assignment, which has been both interesting and challenging. Furthermore, the process of prototyping was difficult as I struggled with creativity during this stage. However, I have learned valuable lessons in experimentation, iteration, and refining ideas through prototyping. This skill is crucial for testing and validating assumptions, enhancing designs based on feedback, and ultimately delivering successful solutions.
Reflection is a crucial process that enables individuals to consolidate their learning, gain valuable insights, and identify areas for growth and improvement. By reflecting on the process of designing a project, aligning it with the UN development goals, and taking feedback into consideration, I can learn from my experiences, refine my approach, and improve my future design projects. Reflection also increases one's understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and helps designers become more conscious and responsible in their commitment to creating a positive social impact.
